Flying M Air will be at Page Airport on beautiful Lake Powell from midday on March 23 through midday on March 24. While there, we will be offering doors-off photo flights over Lake Powell for photographers or videographers. We can accommodate up to two people, depending on weight.

There is no helicopter operator with more experience flying over Lake Powell than Flying M Air. We know the lake and the areas favored by photographers. We’ve conducted more than 50 photo flights over the lake in the past four years, from Marble Canyon and Lees Ferry, all the way up to the confluence of the Green River and Colorado Rivers in Canyonlands National Park. We’ve also explored the San Juan River Arm to Goosenecks and beyond and the Escalante Arm to its entry into the lake’s main body.

Be Spontaneous and Save!

Normally we charge $495/hour per hour for photo flights over the lake, as well as travel time to get to the lake from the Phoenix area. For these dates only, we are offering photo flights for $395/hour. Because we’ll already be at the lake on these dates, you’ll also save nearly $2,000 in aircraft ferry costs. If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to photograph the lake without paying the cost of getting a helicopter there, now is the time.

Flights can be scheduled during the following time slots:
March 23: 2 PM to sunset
March 24: sunrise to 10 AM

There is a one-hour minimum per flight. All flights are billed based on the on-board Hobbs meter, which records time in 1/10th hour.

This is a limited-time offer subject to availability. It may be withdrawn at any time for any reason. Total maximum weight of passengers and equipment is limited to 400 lbs.

To book this flight, call Flying M Air at 928-231-0196. (We cannot accept reservations by e-mail.) If a machine answers, be sure to leave your name and best contact phone number and mention the Be Spontaneous! offer for this date.

Need to get to Lake Powell? Great Lakes Airlines flies daily from Phoenix and Denver to Page, AZ. Car rentals are available from Hertz at the airport. There are hotels and motels throughout Page.

This package combines all available information about our 6-day/5 night excursion, including both pricing options and a detailed list of what is included. There are also dozens of full-color photographs taken during actual excursions conducted over the past three years.

This 20-page, full-color document is available three ways:

Download a PDF format file for free from this Web site. This is a low-resolution version of the document, formatted for onscreen viewing. Adobe Reader or other PDF reader software is required to view the file. Although this file can be printed, images may appear pixelated on paper.

Order a copy from the printer for the cost of printing and postage. This is a good alternative if you want to obtain one or more copies of the information package but don’t want to discuss the tour with our staff or provide us with your contact information. The estimated cost is $7 and the document can be shipped to the U.S. or Canada. Copies are normally shipped within 3-5 days of the order date.

Call us at 928/231-0196 or 602/633-HELI to discuss the excursion with a staff member and order a free copy. This is the best way to learn more about the excursion from a member of the Flying M Air staff who has actually experienced it. You can call us during normal business hours, 7 AM to 7 PM daily. If your call is answered by our voicemail system, please leave your name and phone number in a message. (We do not return phone calls based on caller ID.) We’ll be sending out these packages daily on request starting on January 2, 2010.

He found it at the present-day site of Vulture Mine. The town that bears his name, Wickenburg, AZ, was founded in 1863 to support the area’s gold mining activities. Situated along the banks of the Hassayampa River, approximately 50 miles northwest of central Phoenix, the town has a rich western heritage that is still evident today.

Our newest day trip from Phoenix, “Henry Wickenburg’s Legacy,” offers a round-trip scenic flight to Wickenburg, followed by a self-guided tour of the Vulture City ghost town and a trip into downtown Wickenburg for a visit to the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. We provide ground transportation in Wickenburg and pay the entrance fee for the ghost town and museum. You just have fun.

In an effort to continue growing its business, Flying M Air has relocated its helicopter to Phoenix, AZ. Starting in September 2009, the company will be operating out of Deer Valley Airport (DVT) in north Phoenix. Flying M Air will continue to offer flights from other Phoenix-area airports, including Scottsdale, Glendale, and Sky Harbor, but will discontinue tours and day trips from Wickenburg.

The move to Phoenix has dramatically cut costs to operate from Phoenix-area airports. Flying M Air no longer has a one-hour round trip ferry flight between Wickenburg and the Phoenix area. As a result, the company is able to cut its prices on tours and day trips from Phoenix, making them more attractive to potential clients and Phoenix-area hotel concierges looking for interesting activities for guests.

“Keeping the helicopter based in Wickenburg was bad for business,” says Flying M Air’s Chief Pilot, Maria Langer. “There’s virtually no customer base up there and the cost of flying down to Phoenix for our customers was forcing us to price our services much higher than our competition. Now, with the helicopter conveniently based at Deer Valley, we can service all of Phoenix more cost-effectively.”

The resulting change in Flying M Air’s pricing structure was dramatic. An hour-long tour of Phoenix that was $795 for up to 3 passengers is now only $495. Day trips to Sedona that previously sold for $1,495 are now $1,295.

“The helicopter is now based at an executive jet center,” Langer says. “It’s in a clean, insulated and secure hangar. The manager of the facility is anxious to help us promote our services. And best of all, I don’t have to drag the helicopter in and out of the hangar anymore. There’s a line staff to do it for me!”
