Flying M Air is certificated for flights in any of the 48 contiguous United States. Although we are most familiar with Arizona, we have flown extensively in Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. But we’re ready and willing to push our own borders to take you just about anywhere you want to go in the lower 48 U.S. states.

Our aircraft cruises at roughly 130 miles per hour and we can cover distances in 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of time it takes to drive the same distances. That means you can go farther faster. But we offer something else you can’t get from a car: a view that simply can’t be beat.

Unlike airplanes, we fly only 500-1000 feet over the ground. That means you’ll get to actually see the places you fly over. No matter how familiar a place is to you from the ground, seeing it from the air will give you a whole new perspective you’ve never imagined.

How it Works

Begin by making a list of the places you want us to fly you to or over. Think about what you want to see along the way. Count up the number of days you expect the trip to take.

Then give us a call with your desired itinerary and preferred dates of travel. We’ll put together a flight plan for you and calculate the expected number of flight hours. If you like, we can also book hotels and tours at each destination for you.

We’ll also calculate the total cost of the excursion. If you decide to go forward with your flight, we’ll send you a contract, get a deposit from you, and book the trip. As with our other excursions, full payment will be required three days before the trip begins.

Examples

Suppose you want to start in Phoenix and visit The Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon, and Lake Powell over a seven day period, with one night at the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon and two nights at each other destination. You want the flight to overfly the Colorado River, including the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the Virgin River Canyon, Monument Valley, and Sedona. You’ll book all hotel accommodations and tours on your own; you just want us to provide the scenic helicopter flight part of your journey.

We’d calculate the total flight time (approximately 10 hours) and the total number of nights on the trip (6 nights). We’d calculate the cost of the excursion based on this information and you’d pay us for our flight services. You’d pay your other costs directly to hotels and tour operators.

This is just one example — surely you have other ideas about the places you’d like to see and visit.

Pricing

Pricing for custom multi-day excursions is based on the flight time, number of days, and any overnight accommodations or tours we book for you. The rates are as follows:

Flight time

Flight time is billed at the following rates. The longer the total flight time, the lower the rate:
Less than 5 hours: $495/hour
5 or more hours*: $450/hour
*Flights over 8 hours must be conducted over a period of 2 or more days; pilot is allowed to fly no more than 8 hours per day.

Overnight Fees

The aircraft and pilot must stay with you during your excursion. The pilot will incur overnight costs for lodging and meals and must be compensated for time. In addition, if the aircraft is not available for other work, there is a good possibility of lost revenue. Because of this, we must charge an overnight fee per night of the excursion.

Per night fees: $350

Accommodations and Tours

Because of the work involved in booking tours and accommodations, Flying M Air charges a 15% fee on top of actual costs. So if a hotel we book for you is $200/night (including taxes), we will charge $230/night for that hotel room. Clearly, you can save money by booking your own hotels and tours.
