Flying M Air did it’s first corn pollination job in the summer of 2014.
With extremely hot days and little wind, Mother Nature simply wasn’t making it easy for effective pollination. We were called out to fly over the rows of corn early in the day, at the peak of the pollen release. The downwash from our rotor blades stirred up the air and got the pollen flying while it was still viable.
We offer corn pollination flights in North Central Washington at our regular charter rate of $545/hour with a 1-hour minimum flight time. That fee is also applied to travel time. Once over the corn, we can cover over 300 acres an hour.
Please note that this service does not spread pollen from within the aircraft. All it does is stir up the air to spread existing pollen released from the plants.
